The Bowling Green Marathon is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. today, November 1, with traffic disruptions expected in downtown Bowling Green and around Western Kentucky University, the Bowling Green Police Department said. Police said officers gathered for a pre-event briefing to review assignments, coordinate traffic operations and prepare for the race.
Bowling Green police said disruptions are expected until approximately 1 p.m. Runners will use designated lanes along the route, and officers will monitor traffic conditions and help keep people safe, the department said.
The department said rainy conditions are expected and asked drivers to slow down, stay alert and watch for runners, volunteers and officers. Police said they are looking forward to helping make the event safe and successful, and wished participants good luck.
