The Bowling Green Lady Purples volleyball team has done it again — capturing their second consecutive 4th Region championship after sweeping the Greenwood Lady Gators in dominant fashion (25-20, 25-16, 25-12) in Bowling Green on Wednesday night. This marks the team’s fourth regional title in the last five seasons, adding another chapter to the program’s powerhouse legacy.

With a strong crowd at Greenwood High School, the Lady Purples delivered a commanding performance fueled by tight passing, aggressive serving, and strong defensive plays at the net. Bowling Green entered the match as the reigning regional champions and lived up to the hype, extending their winning streak in postseason play and showcasing why they remain one of Kentucky’s volleyball dynasties.

The Lady Purples will now advance to the KHSAA State Volleyball Tournament, where they aim to build on their momentum and chase a state crown. Bowling Green continues to stand out as one of the premier volleyball programs in Kentucky high school sports.

Head Coach Jamie Johnson praised the team’s consistency and competitive fire:
“These girls have worked all season for moments like this. Back-to-back titles are never easy — it takes discipline, trust, and belief. I’m proud of how they stayed composed and executed at every level.”

Senior captain Ava Thompson shared what the win means for the team:
“We came in determined to defend our title. We played as one unit, kept the energy high, and trusted each other. Now we’re hungry for more — we want to bring home a state championship.”

Greenwood Head Coach Emily Martin acknowledged her team’s effort while crediting the Purples:
“We fought hard, but Bowling Green is a well-coached and experienced team. We’ll use this as motivation moving forward.”

The Lady Purples now set their sights on the biggest stage — the KHSAA state tournament, ready to take the momentum from another regional trophy into a high-stakes postseason run. With experience, talent, and confidence on their side, Bowling Green looks primed to make a serious push toward a state title.
