Bowling Green is gearing up for a fun and festive kickoff to the holiday season as the Annual Downtown Duck Drop returns on Monday, Nov. 24 at noon at The Fringe. A total of 300 mini rubber ducks will be released from a bucket truck, and the duck landing closest to a target will score $100 for a Thanksgiving meal from Houchens Food Group—plus hundreds of dollars in prizes from local downtown businesses.
The family-friendly event is back for its second year and is expected to draw a lively crowd to downtown Bowling Green. Hosted as part of the lead-up to Duncan Hines Days, the duck drop brings the community together while raising funds for the celebration of Bowling Green’s hometown culinary icon, Duncan Hines.
Each duck entry is $10, with a limit of 10 ducks per person, and all proceeds support upcoming Duncan Hines Days programming. Last year’s inaugural event drew glowing support from families, students, and downtown supporters looking for a unique way to give back.
Only 300 ducks are available, adding a competitive spark to the annual event — once they sell out, they’re gone.
“This event is the kind of quirky, joyful tradition that makes downtown Bowling Green special,” said a Downtown BGKY Partnership spokesperson. “It’s a fun way to support our small businesses, kick off the season, and fuel the excitement around Duncan Hines Days.”
Local downtown merchant Ashley Martin, owner of a nearby café, added, “Events like the Duck Drop bring real energy to our district. It’s a celebration and an economic boost—it’s a win for everyone.”
With limited entries, rising holiday excitement, and a great cause behind it, the Downtown Duck Drop continues to quack-up Bowling Green in the best way — bringing community joy, prizes, local business support, and hometown pride to the heart of the city.
Be sure to grab your ducks early before they sell out — and get ready to watch them fly (and bounce)!
