Warren County residents can drop off old paint, batteries, pesticides and outdated electronics for free from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at 999 Lauren Avery Drive, according to WBKO.
The Details
- When: Saturday, Oct. 31, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., per WBKO and the Warren County event page.
- Where: 999 Lauren Avery Drive, according to both WBKO and Warren County.
- Cost: Free, per WBKO. Courtenay Howell, environmental coordinator for the city of Bowling Green, told the station: "It's important for us to have these days so that you have a way to for free dispose of your hazardous waste."
- Who it's for: The county's event page says the day is for local-area households; business materials cannot be accepted "per federal guidelines," the county says.
What to Bring
WBKO lists oil and latex paint, aerosol cans, household and car batteries, transmission fluids, pesticides, and old TVs, laptops, cell phones and tablets. Document shredding is also offered, and WBKO says already-shredded material must be sealed in a bag. Warren County's page adds items such as adhesives, cleaners, fluorescent bulbs and weed killers. Check the county page for the full list.
What to Leave Home
WBKO and Warren County both say ammunition, fireworks and other explosives, biological or radioactive waste, unmarked gas cylinders and tires are not accepted.
What Howell Told WBKO
- "Batteries over time, if they age, they can be fire hazards," Howell said.
- On paint, Howell said: "They will repurpose or reuse any good paint that we have come through." WBKO names Habitat for Humanity among the event's partners.
Before You Go
- Pull hard drives from computers first, because organizers cannot remove them on site, according to WBKO and the county.
- The county page says to keep materials in their original labeled containers with lids tightened, not in plastic garbage bags, and never to mix chemicals.
- Neither source lists an event phone number. Check ahead through the county's event page.
