BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — A house fire erupted just before 6 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Webb Drive, prompting a swift response by the Bowling Green Fire Department (BGFD) and local police. Nine units arrived on scene and found heavy smoke and visible flames; thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.
Residents in Bowling Green have seen a number of fire-calls this year as older housing stock meets heavier usage and sometimes outdated wiring. Webb Drive, situated off one of the city’s quiet side streets, is typically a low-traffic residential area — making the sudden blaze particularly startling to neighbours. According to the initial report, BGFD units observed fire and smoke coming from the home upon arrival.
Investigators from the Bowling Green Police Department are assisting in determining the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined at this time. A witness reported seeing someone jump from a window in the home, although authorities say there were no injuries
“When we arrived the home was fully involved in fire and smoke,” said a BGFD spokesperson. “Our primary goal was occupant safety and containing spread to neighbouring structures.”

“It’s scary when you hear the fire sirens and see all those trucks pull in,” said a neighbour on Webb Drive who asked to remain anonymous. “We saw someone jump out of a window — we’re just thankful everyone is okay.”
“We’re working to determine the origin and cause of the blaze,” added a Bowling Green Police Department detective assigned to the case. “At this point, we are treating it as an active investigation.”
Officials will continue to investigate the blaze on Webb Drive and are expected to release more details on the cause once the forensic and fire-investigation work is complete.
