The Goodwin Gallery at SKyPAC on College Street is about to fill with winter-themed art from community artists, and the public gets its first look on Thursday, Nov. 12.
According to SKyPAC's event page for The Heart of Winter Art Contest 2026, the community contest invites artists ages 5 and up to submit original work that embodies the "Heart of Winter." The page says each entrant may submit one or two original pieces in any visual medium, including paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics and fiber arts.
Key dates
SKyPAC's page lists this schedule:
- Nov. 5: Application and photo pre-screening deadline (already passed)
- Nov. 9-11: Artwork move-in, by appointment
- Nov. 12 - Dec. 16: Public display in the Goodwin Gallery, 601 College Street
- Dec. 15: Awards announced
- Dec. 17-18: Artwork pick-up
SKyPAC's ticketing calendar lists the contest on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. The event page does not say whether anything special is planned that afternoon, so check with SKyPAC before heading downtown.
Prizes and voting
Per SKyPAC, guest judges will choose first-, second- and third-place winners in each age group. A People's Choice Award goes to the entry with the most votes, cast at $1 each. The page does not list prize amounts. Graves Gilbert Clinic is named as the sponsor.
What it costs
SKyPAC's page says entry fees start at $10 for youth artists and go up to $20 for adults. The entry deadline has passed, so this week is mainly a chance for the rest of us to see the work.
Plan your visit
The display runs more than a month, through Dec. 16, so there is time to stop by before or after a show. Gallery hours and admission were not listed on the event page, so check ahead. SKyPAC's ticket office can be reached at 270-904-1880, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to the venue's tickets page. SKyPAC's calendar for the same week also lists Classic Seger on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m.
Details are on the SKyPAC event page at theskypac.com.
