A solemn and meaningful ceremony will unfold on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. CST at Aviation Heritage Park (1825 Three Springs Rd) in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where the Two Creeks Garden Club and the Aviation Heritage Park & Museum will dedicate a new Gold Star Marker to honor the families of military service members who died in service to the United States.

The marker is part of a national initiative by organizations such as the Gold Star Families to provide visible recognition for the ultimate sacrifice paid by service members — and by their families.

The Two Creeks Garden Club sponsored the marker in partnership with Aviation Heritage Park & Museum.

The dedication takes place on the grounds of Aviation Heritage Park, which already serves as a local landmark preserving the history of aviation in this region of Kentucky.

For Bowling Green residents, this event not only honors national service and sacrifice but also connects directly with local families and community history — anchoring remembrance right here at home.

At 1:30 p.m., attendees will gather for a short program: remarks by key organizers, the unveiling of the marker, and a moment of reflection. Afterwards, light refreshments will be served inside the museum.

Local Gold Star Families are being invited and encouraged to submit names of their loved ones who died while serving so that they can be recognized properly at the event.

This event is open to the public; community members, veterans, and family members are encouraged to attend, show their support, and help sustain the marker as a lasting tribute.

“We are incredibly honored to partner with the Two Creeks Garden Club to bring this Gold Star Marker to Bowling Green,” said Bob Bubnis, Executive Director of Aviation Heritage Park & Museum. “This marker will serve as a permanent tribute to the immense sacrifice made by Gold Star Families in our community and across the nation.”

The event ties into the broader mission of the Aviation Heritage Park & Museum, helping the venue further serve not just as an aviation exhibit but as a community hub for heritage and honor.

This dedication ceremony on November 8 will anchor the memory of fallen service members and their families in the heart of Bowling Green — establishing a symbol of honor, community support, and enduring gratitude.
