The Downtown BGKY Harvest Festival marked 10 years on Saturday, filling parts of downtown Bowling Green with food, vendors and family activities, according to WBKO.

What Happened

WBKO reports the festival used several downtown locations this year. Fall Fiesta, a celebration of Latinx foods and flavors, took place at Fountain Square Park. Circus Square Park hosted kid-focused activities, food and vendors, and the SoKY Center held a shopping market, WBKO says.

The pumpkin drop was among the highlights, along with hay bales and food vendors, per WBKO. The station reports the dropped pumpkins weigh 60 to 100 pounds.

A Decade Downtown

According to WBKO, the festival began a decade ago to bring people downtown, and it has grown from three blocks to seven. Emily Brawner, community engagement coordinator for the City of Bowling Green, told WBKO this year's event was the largest yet.

The City of Bowling Green's festival page says attendance topped 20,000 in 2024 and that the festival has more than 300 vendors plus more than 100 food trucks. Those figures come from the city's page, not from this year's event.

What's Next

WBKO reports organizers say the festival could expand beyond its current seven blocks next year. No 2027 date or details were given in that report. The city's page says the festival is held each October on the Saturday after fall break for city and county schools. Check the city's Harvest Festival page for updates, including vendor registration links.
