A 29-year-old Bowling Green man, identified as Anster Marquez of Bowling Green, KY, has been arrested by the Bowling Green Police Department (BGPD) and is charged with first-degree rape following an incident reported early Sunday morning.
According to police records, officers responded to a delayed rape report Sunday. The victim told BGPD that Marquez “had sex with her against her will” that same morning.
During the investigation, Marquez initially denied sexual intercourse but later admitted to it; investigators noted he changed his story multiple times.
He was taken into custody and is being held at the Warren County Regional Jail pending further legal action.
This arrest adds to a growing concern in the Bowling Green and South Central Kentucky region over sexual assault cases, spotlighting both the prevalence of these crimes and the local law-enforcement response.
Local residents seeking context may review the BGPD’s crime‐reporting page or refer to the recent WNKY story, which addresses similar incidents and the police’s investigative protocols.
“Every individual deserves to live free from the threat of sexual violence,” said a BGPD spokesperson. “Our department takes all reports seriously and is committed to a full investigation.”
This arrest underscores that sexual assault is not just an abstract statistic—it’s a threat to our neighborhoods and the safety of individuals in Warren County and beyond.
For Bowling Green residents, the message is clear: stay vigilant, support survivors, and hold systems accountable. The path to a safer community requires awareness, prompt action by law-enforcement, and comprehensive support for victims.
